WHAT IS ART?
The world is often a complicated affair, full of both wonderful and incomprehensible moments. From its earliest days, the human race has sought to capture those moments in words, action, and images. For much of that history those images came in the form of art. In all its forms, painting, sculpture, literature, music, theatre, and now film, it has proven not only to be a record of events in time, but also an expression of the feelings and emotions of the artists and moments being portrayed. At its best, great art is uplifting and captures enough of the human condition to appeal to vast numbers of people. Sometimes it’s appeal may be just as limited because art is often “in the eye of the beholder”. However it “catches your eye” it’s often because it reflects something about yourself: who we are, what or who we love, something we believe in, or wish to say to the world.
